SEA Members to Meet With DOC Commissioner Nominee

SEA members at the Department of Corrections have an opportunity to shape the future direction of the department by attending meetings with Bill Wrenn, the nominee for commissioner.

Wrenn will meet with North Country members  in  Berlin on Monday, Nov. 28 from 2  to 5 p.m. This meeting will be held at the Community Technical College, Room 137, 2020 Riverside Drive (Route 16).

In nominating Wrenn, Gov. John Lynch spoke of a 10-year vision for a department that has been in turmoil.

“Chief Wrenn has the knowledge and proven ability to work with me, the Legislature, and Corrections employees to develop a long-term vision for our Corrections Department that focuses on keeping our citizens safe and reducing crime,” Lynch said in a statement released before he put the nominee’s name before the Executive Council.

The Berlin meeting  with Wrenn, along with a Nov. 22 session held in Concord , gives SEA members an opportunity to be part of the process and to have our concerns addressed.

Adequate staffing, workplace dignity, respect for our union contract, updated equipment and technology needed to perform our jobs safely and efficiently, and equal treatment of workers are critical issues for DOC employees from Berlin to Goffstown.

The meetings with Wrenn give all DOC members the opportunity to listen and ask questions before making a recommendation to the Executive Council.
