Day 1:
New Leaders Elected to Union Board

Several new members of the union's Board of Directors were elected at the 67th Annual Convention in Nashua on Oct. 27.

Convention floor 2007

Jessica Levasseur (Chapter 20, Dept. of Resources and Economic Development), Ken Roos (Chapter 16, Health & Human Services), Betty Thomas (Chapter 37, Employment Security), and Bruce Vanlandingham (Chapter 22, Dept. of Transportation), all graduates of the union's Leadership Academy, were elected to the Board.  Diana Richard (Chapter 16, Health & Human Services), also a Leadership Academy graduate, was elected Secretary of the SEA.   Experienced Board member Marc Bergeron (Chapter 17, Dept. of Transportation) was elected to return to the Board. 


Day 2:
Business Completed

The 67th SEA Convention completed its business on Saturday, November 17th. 

Second Day of 2007 Convention
Convention delegates approved forming an ad hoc Committee to review the SEA’s affiliation with SEIU.  The Committee is to provide an interim report to the Council at its June, 2008 meeting, and will make its final report to the 2008 Convention.  Delegates also:

  • approved an increase in SEA mileage reimbursements to members who serve on Committees;
  • referred a resolution regarding the discipline or termination of SEA management employees to the Constitution and Bylaws Committee; and
  • referred a resolution regarding the bargaining of health insurance benefits to the Collective Bargaining Advisory Committee.
