Building a 21st Century Union:
66th Annual SEA Convention

Over 200 delegates from nearly 40 chapters gathered in Bartlett on October 21-22 for the SEA's 66th Annual Convention.

A crowded hall and a crowded agenda were notable features of this year's convention, the highest decision-making body in our member-run, democratic organization.

Welcomed to District 1 by Executive Councilor Raymond Burton, delegates set to work dealing with proposed constitutional amendments, proposed resolutions, and elections to fill the highest offices of our union.

For the first time, delegates participated in a "vision exercise" in which they were asked to evaluate our union's past successes and then think ahead to what would constitute the perfect union of the future.    In doing this the convention began creating the "road map" that will help us build build a 21st century union that can meet 21st century challenges.
