Over 200 delegates from nearly 40 chapters gathered in Bartlett on October 21-22 for the SEA's 66th Annual Convention.
A crowded hall and a crowded agenda were notable features of this year's convention, the highest decision-making body in our member-run, democratic organization.
Welcomed to District 1 by Executive Councilor Raymond Burton, delegates set to work dealing with proposed constitutional amendments, proposed resolutions, and elections to fill the highest offices of our union.
As is tradition for annual conventions, numerous awards were also presented.
Chapter of the Year:
Chapter 57, Littleton Police Department
Raymond Proulx Award for Political Activism:
Joan Hamblet, Chapter 41
(Seacoast)
Chapter President of the Year:
Mark Myrdek, Chapter 54
(State Police Commissioned Officers)
John B. Parker Award for Outstanding Member:
Jim McDonough, Chapter 2

In addition, presentations were made to Operation Santa Claus, the union's annual holiday charity event. The Road Race committee presented Operation Santa Claus with a check for just over $6,000, raised at the 2006 road race. It was also announced that the annual golf tournament raised an additional $4,634, and collections made at a Saturday evening hospitality room added up to another $89 for Operation Santa.
